The Asia and Oceania Councils have one goal for AOR 2010: to deliver the best presentations on resilience that you will hear in 2010. We seek knowledgeable, innovative and entertaining presentations from public and private sector participants in emergency management, security, crisis management, business continuity management, risk management and disaster relief.

What¡¯s our standard for a "good" presentation? Watch a TED presentation at www.ted.com.

You may submit a clip or slides from any presentation you have already made. You do not have to submit the presentation you propose to make at AOR 2010. The purpose of submitting a clip or a segment of a presentation is to allow potential attendees to see you ¡®in action¡¯ - to see your speaking style, to see the slides you use, to get people excited about the presenters at our conference. Viewers will vote on the presentations, using the YouTube 5-star rating system.

If you are selected as one of AOR¡¯s 16 presenters, you will have an opportunity to prepare a presentation for the conference. Notifications will be sent out in June 2010.

Here¡¯s a sample video clip and slide presentation and this is how we will display your submission on the page.
Presenter Submission Process
IAEM¡¯s AOR 2010 presenter selection process is simple:
  1. Submit a video clip of yourself, or a link to a Youtube clip (5 minutes or less) of yourself giving any presentation ortraining session on security, emergency management, crisis management, business continuity management, risk management, disaster recovery or disaster relief - the components of community and corporate resilience.

If you don¡¯t have a video clip of yourself, you can instead submit a Powerpoint or Keynote presentation with an embedded audio recording of your voice. Both Powerpoint or Keynote allow you to record your voice narration and to embed that recording into the presentation file.

  2. We will mount your video clip on the AOR 2010 Presenters page on YouTube at http://www.iaem.com.sg/AOR-Presenters.htm where everyone who visits will be able to view it and vote on it, using Youtube¡¯s zero-to-five star rating system. In this way, visitors and conference attendees will get to see the presenters in action and be able to shape the content of the conference with their votes. The process will also, of course, encourage presenters to create informative, innovative and entertaining presentations - and that¡¯s our goal.

Note: We know that English is not everyone¡¯s first language. We welcome presentations in all other languages, and if one or more such presentations are selected, we will work with the presenters on translation options for the conference.

  3. IAEM will select sixteen (16) presenters by 15 June 2010. The final date for presentation submissions is 15 May 2010.

  4. To see what we think are samples of great presentations, please watch a TED Talk at www.ted.com.
