On the 4th of June, around 20 participants made their way to Situ Babakan - Jakarta’s conservation area for the local Betawi culture. This is also the Headquarters of Jakarta Rescue who hosted this 2nd IAEM Indonesia Chapter networking event for 2009.

Pak R. Hadianto Warjaman S.H. the Founder of Jakarta Rescue spoke about the organisation’s work and capabilities. He shared some experiences that this group has had with a wide range of disasters across the Indonesian archipeligo. To download his presentation, click here: jakarta-rescue-background
Pak Hadianto then handed over the floor to Nat Forbes, the IAEM Asia President. Nat spoke at length about attaining the Certified Emergency Manager qualification. Nat outlined plans to sponsor the applications and tests of the first 10 people qualifying for CEM in Asia, and promised assistance with essay and putting together the application package to those who need it.
