After a very successful first networking meeting, IAEM-Philippines had a follow up event last 2 June. This time the registration had to be closed as the number of confirmed participants from notable companies and organizations in the Philippines went beyond the limit. The presentations from the Dr. Renato Solidum, head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and Engr. Ronald Ison of the Association of Structural Engineers opened the discussion on how to prepare for a major earthquake in Manila. The growing interest in IAEM is an indication that there is a need for a forum to learn and exchange ideas among Philippine emergency managers. After two networking events, three new members have signed up to become IAEM members. Bigger networking and learning events are planned in the next few months.
